Maker: unknown, unmarked.
Caliber: ca. 28 bore
Date: Probably 1780-1810
A small box lock type flintlock pistol. The term
box lock refers to the way these type of guns are constructed. The hammer is in the center of a 'box' in stead of on the side of a lock.
This pistol has no makers name or any other marking. The frame and top plate are brass, the other parts steel. It's
nicely made but the finish is a bit rough so I conclude that it was a lesser gunsmith who made this, I guess Belgium or French made made. (I bought it in France) The springs are still very strong and would be safe to shoot.
